Employement status when applying for ILR

Post by themonsoonhunter » Thu Jun 02, 2011 7:36 pm

Hi,

Do I need to be working when applying for ILR ?

I am planning to apply 2 weeks after my contract expires. I have enough fund and meet all necessary salary requirements.

I am also not sure what is the rule for self employed, how do they get letter from company ?

Thanks in advance.

I presume you are on a Tier 1 (General) visa.

As long as you make an in-time application, your immigration status remains the same as it was prior to you making an application/your current leave expiring.

If you are self-employed, there's no need for a letter from any employer based on the fact that you are self employed.

Read through the Guidance for SET(O)
