Pakistani Bachelor's and Master's degrees

Post by ajilani » Mon Jul 05, 2004 6:45 am

Dear All,

FYI.

"Pakistani Bachelor's and Master's degrees are generally not considered comparable to a British Bachelor's degree with Honours, and are therefore not in most cases an adequate preliminary to postgraduate study. The exceptions are the degrees of Master of Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering, which are generally considered comparable to a British Bachelor's degree with Honours. In addition, the degrees of Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, and most Master's degrees are generally considered comparable to British Bachelor (ordinary) degree standard."

Regards,
Azher

ajilani is wrong.

Pakistani Master = UK Bachelor Honours (Cofirmed)

Pakistani Bachelor = nothing.

This can be easily described as;

PAK MPhil = UK Masters

PAK MS (BS+one year = 5 yrs) = UK Masters(ordinary)
PAK MCS (BSc+Two Yr = 4 yrs) = UK Bachelor Hons

PAK BS 4 yrs = UK Bachelors hons
PAK BCS 3 yrs = UK Bachelor Ordinary
PAK BSc 2 yr = UK Part 1 of Bachelor degree

PAK BE = UK Bachelor
PAK ME = UK Masters

Hope this is helpfull.
Regards,
Afzal

Also in Earning Power, Do they count Gratuity, GP Fund? My GP Fund was 1000 GBP and i got it when i left my last job (Last year).
So far, we refrained from establishing a sticky on this, because the subject has been debated at length and also caused bitter disagreements in the past, resulting in unproductive emotional exchanges. Different people have differing experiences in how their non-UK degrees are evaluated by the UK official or commercial entities. This Board should not be an authority for anyone in official comparison of the degrees, and anything that's stated on the subject should probably remain the private opinions of specific posters in their personal topics.

If this position changes for any reason, we'll certainly not hesitate to start a sticky, because the subject comes up fairly often. Meantime, don't be shy of using the Search feature.

Thanks!

Dear AMirza
You can claim 15 points for education after completing your MCS. For question regarding earning power please see the following links, they may be helpful.

mirza,
zahid is right, the 3 year degree is itself a matter of dispute and you have a 2 years degree. Better you apply after completing your masters. No benefits are counted as your earning(not even GP).

cosmopol I fully agree with you. This column has been debated a lot.

all the best.
