Passport or Registration- which one first for new born baby.

Post by engi_guy » Sun Jun 12, 2011 7:48 pm

Hi All,

I am going to High Commission of India to apply passport and registration of my new born. Is it mandatory to register first before I go to passport counter? The issue is - child is not considered 'Indian' by descent unless birth is registered (both parents are Indian). There are lots of queues in high commission so it may be likely that I get to passport window earlier than bith registration window.

Anyone had similar experience?

Thanks

I was in a similiar situation for my two children. I applied for registration and passport together by post. If you are going in person, I would say you need to register first and then apply for passport.
I hope this helps.

I submitted application in person.

Remember to take two token- one each for counsellor and passport service. First you have to register on counsellor counter (counter 1). They would give a receipt which you need to photocopy outside and submit along passport application.

Cheers
