Travelling to the Canary Islands

Post by Loz27 » Thu Jun 16, 2011 9:12 am

Hi there,

Has anybody travelled to the Canary Islands on a Schengen Visa?

Whats the deal, we have heard several things.. we can enter the country like normal.. or we have to provide documentation at the border control when we land.. for example we need bank statments and we have also heard that we have to let the police know we are there?

Could anybody clarify?!

Thanks

Border police can always check whether you (still) fulfill the requirements for entry. The criteria are the same as in the application process for the visa, in essence: sufficient funds, insurance cover and evidence of intent to leave again.

If Spain has a registration system then you would have to register within a certain period of time. Possible that the hotel check-in would cover that or there are certain exceptions for short-term visitors. I do not know.

hi Loz27

I fully agree with 86ti. Just take the papers which you used to apply for the visa.

The Canary Islands are a "usual" part of Spain (thus Schengen) with the exception on some tax-issues, but that has nothing to do with Visa/Entry regulations.

Enjoy the island(s)!

Regards, Christian

Thats perfect

Thanks for your help.

We will just take out marriage cert then as this is all we needed to apply as my hubby is a spouse of a EU Citizen (mee!)

Thanks again!!

Loz27,

Are you just going on holiday or are you moving there?
