Professional Indemnity or Employers and Public Liability

Is Professional Indemnity or Employers and Public Liability insurance mandatory for extending Tier 1 General visa for an IT contractor who does invoicing through limited company route?

Btb, there is no reference to insurance in the contract document itself.
