Early extension of Tier 1 general visa

Post by utopia » Wed Jun 29, 2011 8:20 am

Hello,

I obtained my Tier 1 general visa in May 2010 under the 2 + 3 years plan. Accordingly, my extension is due in May 2012. Prior to May 2010 I have spent about 2 years in the UK on a Work Permit.

For the sake of piece of mind and proper planning, I wish to secure an extension as soon as I can.

Could someone let me know if there is a limit on how early one can apply for a tier 1 general extension? Would my application be considered if I were to apply for an extension as early as October or November this year, i.e about 7 or 8 months before my extension is officially due?

Regards

No Issue.. go for it.. You can technically apply for extension even next day after getting your first visa..

Yes you can make early extension but remember visa will be extended from the date of your application.

Yes, which gives me the buffer I need and also the reason to go for an early extension. Thanks anyway.

What do you mean suppose some one has Tier1 visa till October 2012 completing his five year 2hsmp+3year tier 1

and he want to apply for tier1 extension

It means if you apply in Jan 2012 for extension, the extended date which is normally 3 years or till the completion of 5 years period would start from Jan 2012. But it won't affect you as you already have 2 years period as WP which would be counted towards your ILR period. So even if you get less period like 2 years you would still be able to get to the qualifying period.
