Questions about the changes

I have two questions:

1-What about the extension? For example, a Tier 4 student now is in the UK with his/her family. S/he has 10 hours per week working right. If he is going to extend his/her visa for another english course lasting more than 6 months, can the family members extend as well and will s/he have right of work?

2-There is a change regarding maintenance and it should be available even after the application. How could they verify that and how could they check that if the fund is still available? In many countries, only with court order the bank statement can be verified by the bank.

I found the answer to the first question: they can extend as before.
