Switching from Tier-1 Dependant to Tier-1 General Visa

1. I wanted to find out if it is possible to switch from a Tier-1 Dependent visa to a Tier-1 general visa while being in the UK.

tier 1 general is closed now so no question of switching even from abroad

Just to expand on what the previous poster said: Tier 1 General is closed for switching AND Tier 1 General is closed for applications from abroad. So double-no.
