Visa for travel to switzerland on ILR(living in uk)?

Post by passport-uk » Sun Jul 03, 2011 9:59 am

All,
earlier indian people residing in UK could travel to Switzerland on their UK HSMP visa/ILR etc.Has that rule changed? Does one (on ILR status & living in UK) need to obtain Swiss visa before travelling to Switzerland?
Thanks much Appreciate your guidance.

It's changed. Switzerland is now part of the Schengen agreement.

So if you already have a Schengen visa, you can fly to Switzerland today. If you do not then you need to get a Schengen visa, most likely from the Swiss embassy if that is the country you will solely or primarily be visiting.

I spent 3 years in UK for my job and its to difficult to get a UK visa. For me its fairly and easy to find job there if you are dedicated and hardworking. I recommend to you that.

Switzerland joined EU as Schegen country on 12th Dec 2008. Since then, one needs Schengen visa even though they have UK long term visa.
