Foreign Transfers with a British company

This question may have been asked before but I couldnt find the right answer and hence asking.

I work for a British company and have a HSMP visa. The company has numerous offices worldwide. I have been here for almost 2 years. There is a possibility, in the near future, that the company may transfer me out to one of their markets .

What impact will it have on my ILR application later. Will I lose the 2-3 years or is there a provision through which I can still apply for the ILR after completing 5 years (hope that comes back to 4 years!!) from the time of entering the UK.

Would really appreciate a response on this.

I am in a different, but similar situation. My work requires me to travel regularly outside of the UK.

When I researched my situation, it seems that you are not allowed outside the UK for a single period longer than 3 months or a combined period of 6 months in the 5 years if you want to apply for ILR.

It seems unfair to me that if you are sent abroad by your employer, and you are still employed in the UK (i.e. yu are sent abroad for work purposes,but still generating income for the UK) that they impose these restrictions. But thats the way the cookie crumbles! Im not sure if the same rule applies with a work permit.

So in your case, if you are sent abroad for a period longer than 3 months, your ILR clock will reset. If you are sent for shorter periods, i.e. 1 month at a time, then your ILR clock will reset after 6 visits abroad.

Thanks for your response. I agree that its unfair.... I hope I get to spend at least 4 years here and in the meantime this retrospective change is taken back as well and I get the ILR before my transfer and..... If wishes were horses....
