Tier 1 (General) Extension: Point Required

Post by khccheng » Mon Jul 18, 2011 12:51 pm

Hi all;

I first granted my Tier 1 (Gerenal) Visa in July 2008, and it valids from 01-Sep-08 to 01-Sep-11. I only moved to the UK towards the end of last year, and started working in Jan 2011.

According to the guidence for applications for a Tier 1 (General) Migrant under the rules in place before 6 April 2010, my expectation on my point accessment is,

Age: 20 (as it is looking at the age when I first applied Tier 1 in 2008.)
Qualifications: 35 (Master)
UK Experience: 5 (£16,000 and above income in the UK.)

So far, I have 60 points (and of course that 20 point for English and Maintenance,) and I need extra 15 to meet my 75 points requirement.

Now, my income in London from Jan to July 2011 will score me 15-20 points, I do have income from oveaseas but 1. it need to be translated (and no one was able to advise on a transator here either,) 2. it might delay to application.

So if I only use my income in the UK this year and get say 15 points for Previous Earning, my question is;

WILL THEY APPROVE MY VISA EXTENSION AS LONG AS I MEET THE 75 POINT REQUIREMENT? OR I SHOULD USE MY EARNING OUTSIDE THE UK AS WELL TO BE SAFE?

Just UK earning is ok and if you can get 75 points should not be any problem. Also, make sure all part of your earnings can be claimed as per rules( e.g. check if there are any allowances etc and they are allowed)

Thank you so much for the instant reply. So basically if I have that 75 points and all my supporting documents are valid, they will approve my visa extension, like they will not care that I have only just make to the requirements, nor whether I have more or less point for Previous income??

Yeah, all those income are purely salaries, no allowance, no bonus, no dividends or options. So I should be good.

You cannot be rejected for meeting the minimum criteria. You either meet it or you don't.
