Switch to ECAA2 Turkish Business Person

Post by nyc76 » Sun Jul 24, 2011 12:37 am

Hi,

I live in UK since May 2007 (4 years 3 months). If I switch to ECAA2 Business Person from Work Permit will I be able to apply for ILR after 7 months?

Many thanks in advance.

To qualify for settlement, you must show that:

you are still running your business and meeting the requirements for an extension of stay; and
you have been in the United Kingdom for a continuous period of four years, with the most recent period spent as a Turkish ECAA businessperson under the provisions of the ECAA with Turkey, and the rest spent as a Turkish ECAA businessperson, a Tier 1 (entrepreneur) migrant, a businessperson or an investor.

I would definitely try to keep my job and complete 4 years 11 months under work permit and apply for ILR.

Thanks. What if I loose my job and can not find any position which is sponsored by a company via Tier-2.

Will I loose my rights (past 4 years 3 months) when I get ECAA2 Business?

Shouldn't they count my past 4 years and 3 months when I switch to ECAA2 Business?

Well...to me they should count all, coz they're both some ways of contributing to business, either as an employer or employee.
I don't understand why we can't "mix'n match". But on the other hand these are the rules.

So if you are made redundant, try to find a new company who can sponsor you. Otherwise the moment they put the new visa sticker on your passport, your ILR clock will reset, unfortunately.
