No it's not related to IT only , any contractor can go down the Umbrella road. But there are many pros and cons going with an Umbrella or alternatively you can have your own limited company.
I assume you are Tier1 holder , so overall for us it's less headache when you are with an Umbrella as you will be considered a PAYE employee, but obviously your take home income would be far less .
Just search online and compare umbrellas , there are loads of them offering variety of services. Pick one suits you best
