If they are a licensed sponsor and they are applying for an allocation of CoS in the monthly panel then it will probably be decided within a few days of the start of the next month. The panel normally sits at the start of each month, I believe.

I am not familiar with the specifics of switching employers within Tier2 , so please somebody correct me if I am wrong here:
As far as the assignment of CoS is concerned, if you are applying within the country and your new employer already holds a Sponsor License then they should be able to assign you a CoS from their yearly allocation of unrestricted CoS which they would have been given sometime in March/April this year.
Assigning a CoS would literally take 20-30 mins on the Online Sponsorship Management System.
Hope this helps.

I don't think they have panels anymore
I also think what
ratapita said in the above post is correct. Cause when I applied for a COS I got it like in 3 mins

OP has not said if he/she is applying from inside uk or outside uk.....
inside uk = unrestricted cos = 30 min
outside uk = restricted cos = monthly panels

@kingtommy04
I'm going to apply in a week's time after my new employer finished the residential labour market test, would you please keep us updated with your progress. My new employer also mentioned to me that it normal takes a week for a cos to be granted. I became a bit optimistic after seeing so many replies about being instantly granted.

sure.. i'll keep u updated..
I got my CoS code today.. will apply 'in-person' soon
Congratulations!
I reckon the cos has been obtained, your employer just needs to wait for the RLMT to finish before being able to assign you the cos (generating the cos number).

I was about to ask the same question, as I will end my current employment in September, but dunno whether I have to wait till it ends before I apply in person.
