Dependent Visa - Mismatch in Expiry Date - Please Suggest

Post by Jacob123 » Thu Jul 28, 2011 11:35 am

Dear Members,

We had applied for Tier 1 dependent Visa for my 3 dependents : Wife and 2 Kids. The application was made in VFS Pune, India

Today we received the passport with visa: My both the kids visa has the same expiry date as mine which is 25-05-2013.

However my wife's visa expiry date is 25-03-2013(2 month less than rest of us)

I have following question:
1. Is it an error or it is common for the British council to give different expiry date for dependents
2. What can be the issue if my wife has a different expiry date than us. One issue I can think of is that her extension needs to be applied before rest of us in family

I called VFS and they suggested to submit the passport with a covering letter and the case will be sent to British council and it will take minimum 7 working days to maximum(he was not sure abt maximum) depending on the case.

I have traveled to India to get my family and we plan to travel on the 8th of August.

Please suggest the possibilities to address.

I will be grateful for insights.

Cheers,
Jacob!

Hi Vinny, Many thanks for the links. Based on the details in the link looks like there is a possibility that we travel to UK as planned on the 8th and after reaching there we send a mail and start corresponding on this topic with home office which will be followed by actually sending the passport for correction.

Do you think this is a good approach to handle the situation. We can try to do it in India as well but unfortunately we do not know the time when this will be resolved and we will not be able to travel.

Cheers,
Jacob

It should be possible to correct when she is in the UK.

Hi Vinny,

I got a call from the high commission today and they asked to send the passport for correction. It was mentioned to me that it will take 2 weeks to correct.

I mentioned that we need to travel this weekend and also asked if the changes can be done once we reach UK. They replied that it is up to me what I want to do but they can not guarantee and it is up to me how I want to take this forward.Upon asking if it can be done at UK the answer was non committal neither yes nor no.

Does any one has this experience. Please suggest and guide. I would greatly appreciate that.

Cheers,
Jacob.
