Oyster Penalty Notice - Transport for London

Post by prerna » Fri Aug 05, 2011 11:45 am

Hi, I was recently charged a penalty fare and issued a penalty fare notice for not touching out my oyster card while travelling in London. I tried to convince the officer that I just forgot while getting out, but he issued a notice and I made the payment immediately. I was just absent minded when I walked out of the station and forgot to touch out, but none of this explanation seemed to help the officer.

Am applying for my ILR in next few weeks and am not sure what could be the consequence of this on my ILR application or naturalisation. Can anyone advise please? I understand that for ILR, no traffic offences should exist, etc and for naturalisation, one should be of good character. Am totally unsure of the impact of this on my application. Kindly advise

Thanks much

As you've made the payment it's fine and will not affect your application. You do not have to mention this in your application.

Thanks for your quick response. However, my consultant asked me about any penalties before he could represent my application. Dont know if I should approach a solicitor.

Do you think I should contact home office with thsi query?

You mention approaching a solicitor. Isn't your 'consultant' legally qualified?

No, he is just working on a no win no gain basis. But not ready to offer solicitor service. He simply looks for a reason for not to guarantee my application. Would contacting the home office itself would help?

You have paid the fine that's all that matters.I won't worry about it you haven't committed a crime.

No solicitor can guarantee an application.UKBA have a tendency of making poor decisions which are later won on appeal especially on non asylum applications.

Hi,

Your offence is not covered by Rehabilitation of Offernders act 1974. So you need not to disclose any thing to UKBA.

In case you need to speak to the authorities, I suggest best is to consult or discuss this with NACRO. They are the authority consulted by UKBA for any criminal activity or offence clarification.

They will really clear your mind. So google NACRO and approach them.

For me, I am sure you should not have any problem with your application.

Regards,
The question is... to be or not to be....
