holiday gaps for applying citizenship

Post by deepak nepal » Mon Aug 08, 2011 5:44 pm

HI anybody any idea that will naturalisation dept will deduct holidays gap for calculating reackonable residency in Ireland. I have been on holidays for 2 months in my country during five years period of work permit time. So will it impact for applying naturalisation? Do I need to deduct holidays to calculate total time period in Ireland ?Any suggestions..

No they do not deduct Holidays from reackonable residence. For reackonable residency:
1. You should have one year's continuous residency before applying citizenship i-e one year's continuous Stamp on your passport.
2. Total 60 months residency after deducting all gaps between the stamps on your passport(s).

Now you can calculate your residency through INIS website, this is the Link:

Thanks for response. I had a permit from Oct 2005 so I can just apply naturalisation on coming Oct 2011. I have a visa till June 2012 , it wont' be a porblem for applying on october then . So by the way it mean that they won't deduct the holiday gaps but just deduct gaps between the stamp given by immigration in passport !!
