Comprehensive medical insurance - EEA & EEA2

Post by Penelope111 » Tue Aug 16, 2011 6:10 am

I would really like some comment on the comprehensive medical insurance from those who have received their EEA2 and EEA residence cards. Please could you tell me which insurance company you used and the exact policy you bought? I would be really happy if someone could specify what they have purchased and whether it worked. I do believe this information would help a whole lot of people other than myself.

I have been looking at policies and have been unsure of what to buy. Some people mention AVIVA, however there are several types of policies available. I would really appreciate your comments.

Thanks.

On the other post they said WPA has now introduced a condition of 6 months residence in the UK before they will cover the applicant.

I haven't confirmed this info with WPA.

nonspecifics,

Would you please call them and see what they tell you?

We tried purchasing CSI online, but there's a form to fill out with the following Yes/No question: "I confirm that I have been a resident in the UK and have been registered with a NHS General Practitioner for at least 6 months."

The number to call is: 0800 298 9 588.

Let me know please.

P.S. Also spoke with BUPA, they mentioned the same 6-month rule.

Yes

I spoke to them and the gentleman was very helpful.

He explained they have that 6 month rule because it is hard for them to check new arrivals' medical records or there may not be any medical records to check; so it is too difficult or impossible to calculate how big an insurance risk that person is.

I can see the reason behind it. They want to avoid big payouts in insurance claims or fraudulent claims.

He suggested I try other companies.

Sorry it's not the answer that you wanted.

Thanks for calling, as well as reporting back.

I do understand the reasons behind it of course.

I also answered your reply in the other thread, we'll probably go with Aviva (Healthier Solutions), seems to be the best choice for us.

If anyone reading also has Aviva, I'd love to hear from them.

Thank YOU nonspecifics.
