Problem in getting Provisional Driving licence

Hi,

I have applied for Provisional licence in UK. Today i have got a letter from them that i have to produce a copy of my record from the German central Register of Traffic Offenders or a letter from them.

As i have moved from Germany, i do not know how to get it being from here. Also i never drove in Germany.

Whether any one have similar experience?

Did you send them a copy of your german driver's license ?

Choices

If you have never had a german driving license, you could explain to them and signing a affidavit (to be notarized by lawyer).

If you have held one, it should be easy to apply and get it.

Tech,

I never had a German driving licence and never drove there. But submitting a affidavit seems to be simple but it is not mentioned in their letter.

Did you or any one submitted affidavit like this?

May be German registry will issue " no record found" if you apply for the letter. It is quite normal for people to apply from outside the country.

if you had German license, I guess it is not necessary to apply for UK.

I think this is to check on applicant's record and find out the intention.

Is it applicable for USA drivers also or is it only for EU countries ?

You can get the form from the website of Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt which maintains the central register for traffic offernders in Germany - www.kba.de. Click on " Formulare". There is also the English version. Fill up the form and send it to Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt, 24932 Flensburg, Germany. You should get your records in about a weeks time.

Also one question. Will the reply be in english or German? In case of german , i need to translate into English before sending to DVLV, Isn't it?
