I'm from Pakistan/Islamabad, applying by end of Aug or start Sept.

Anyone knows some good consultant in Islamabad? I'm planning to handover my application to some consultant. It's really taking too much time.

Waiting for Tax Returns

Post by Zee_Zee » Wed Aug 30, 2006 10:44 am

Dear All,

I am planning to apply for HSMP under 28 from Karachi, Pakistan. I am just waiting for my tax returns that are expected to be provided on the 30th Sept. Now my concern is that my salary figures for the last 12 months will not be covered in this tax return because it is for the past fiscal year (Jul 05 to Jun 06). So what are the alternatives besides tax returns to prove my earning power? I intend to get the following as well:
1) Salary Certificate (Detailing Current salary and past 12 month's gross salary)
2) Salary Slips for past 12 months

Can you please tell me that is it worth to wait for the tax returns or I can proceed with the cert. and salary slips only?

Hello zee zee,

Get salary certificate stating salary of tax year 2006( july 2005-june 2006)conforming to tax return( employer certificate in lieu of return of total income) as well as of last 12 months( i.e. sept.2005 -aug.2006). No need of salary slips.

I can provide copy of my certificate which was accepted by home office.

Zee Zee,

Tax return is must. Salary certificate and slips are one and the same thing whereas two independent evidence are required. Last date of tax return is 30 -9 whereas the same can be filed any time after 01- 07.Then why to wait for last date?

Need your advice!

Post by hsmp07 » Thu Aug 31, 2006 7:52 pm

Hello, I am from Pakistan and I wanted some opinion in this matter, I'm planning to apply for HSMP in Jan 2007, as my work experience will become 5 years by then (I'm applying for over 28 category). For my Earnings I will be showing my Tax Return documents. I will be showing my tax return docs from Jun 2005 to July 2006. Along with this I will be showing my last 12 months pay slips and bank statements. My questions are

1. Do u think the tax docs will cause problem, as they will be from Jul 2005 to Jun 2006, but that's the most current that I can get in Jan 2007.

2. I got a raise in August 2006, and keeping that pay from Aug 2006 to Dec 2006 in mind, the total salary earned from Jan 2006 to Dec 2006 will make me eligible to claim points for hsmp. But now, the tax return docs that I will submit will not account for the new increased pay so the tax would ofcourse will be less, do u think that will be a problem?

3. Recently I have also started some freelance work. What sort of evidence do u think will be appropriate: contract letter/ bankstatement/ employer letter detailing the salary??

Hi Farah,

Bundles of thanks for your helpful response. Can you please send me the copy of certificate you are referring to. I have my previous tax return (R3 Form) and am waiting for the new one because the finance department of my current employer told me to do so.

Another major problem, is that my gross salary in tax returns(2005) is a bit less than the actual. When I did the calculation, I came to know that a few allowances were shown as part of the gross salary. Now this year's tax returns were not filed yet and I've tried asking my employer to put those allowances in it as well. But no success.

So, is it enough if I show those allowances as non-taxable income in the salary certificate so that my gross salary (excluding non-taxable allowances) matches the figure mentioned in the tax returns?

I am anxiously waiting for your reply here.

Salam,

If the monthly salary slips matches with bank statement then tax return can be dispensed with but in that case a certificate should be obtained from the employer that salary is paid or credited in the employee bank AC. No.----------
.
As per case worker guidelines if last 12 months do not match with latest tax return than bank statement can be accepted in lieu thereof.
All these things are to be explained in covering letter.by highlighting 12 entries in bank statement. Any additional income from self employment is not required if your last 12 months salary exceeds the limit @ RS.115 per Pound.
It is better to apply through any UK rep. which adds to the credibility of supporting documents.

Inclusion of allowances not appearing in tax return would cause confusion which must be avoided . In tax return there is column of exempt salary .
Notice my certificate has two parts , one conforms to tax return and other is for last 12 months. This figure of last 12 months is to be shown in relvent column of HSMP form and consider the conversion rate also.

Post by Zee_Zee » Fri Sep 08, 2006 9:33 am

Thanks a lot for the template for salary certificate. Ranchers, your cert. is no doubt a simple one but can you please tell me whether you've got approval on this one or you are waiting for one. The letter template from Farah also provides each month's salary which I guess is missing in the one you proposed.

Anyway, thanks.

SALARY CERTIFICATE

Post by farah » Fri Sep 08, 2006 8:15 pm

Actual purpuse of certificate is to verify that earnings in the previous 12 months exceeds the prescribed limit which is not evident from one month certificte. No risk should be taken which is avoidable.

Post by Zee_Zee » Fri Sep 22, 2006 7:21 pm

HI,

If any of you have applied for assessment from NARIC, can you please let me know how long did it take to reach the response here to Pakistan? The status of my application on the NARIC website became 'Comparison Sent' on the 8th Sept but I haven't received any letter yet.

Please share your experiences.
