could not avail tier 1 visa

Hi guys, i have tried to search my issue but failed. My appolgise in advance if its repeat query.
I got tier 1 visa in march 2010 for three years. I left my job and went in september 2010 but had to come back due to critical ailment of my father. Now i dont know what are my options; can i apply for renewal of visa? Or it can only be extended from within uk? Would i be able to succesfully extend,given the short time left.

You have until March 2013 to extend your leave and you can do this only from inside the UK. You will need to score sufficient points to qualify for a an extension. For this you can use your total salary from a continuous 12 month period taken from the 15 months immediately prior to the date of your application to extend.

thanx lucapooka; thats exactly what i thought. Dont think i can fulfill the points requirement in limited time. Job market, i suppose, is very market out there these days.
