How do you answer Part Two - Questions 7,8,9,11,13

Post by syedajmal » Thu Aug 31, 2006 9:37 am

Any help from people who have had their Application approved would be great.

Especially for questions 7 & 11 since they have a huge Text Box next to it. I have no idea what to write except for a one liner on each.

Also for 8,9 & 13. What kind of proof have you used to substantiate your answers.

For yor reference I will be applying in Over 28 category and am an IT Professional with 9+ years of experience currently in the US for the last 6+ years.

Thanks in advance for your replies

Ability to continue to work in your chosen field in the UK

You will also need to show to the HSMP Team that you will be able to work in your field of activity or your chosen field in the UK. You can prove this if you have an employment offer letter from an employer in the UK or if you have been invited for personal interview by an employer in the UK.
While this is a preferred method to prove that you can continue to work in the UK, it will not always be possible to obtain this type of documentary evidence unless you are already in the UK or your existing employer has UK operations and they are willing to employ you in the UK.

We have a few suggestions for you in this regard. Since UK employers, in
general, are not willing to consider your application unless you have existing visa status in the UK which allows you to work, most of the time your application will not be considered or shortlisted. The recruitment process in the UK is still very conservative and the telephonic interviews etc. are not used much but the employers prefer to have one or more personal interviews before you are selected for any position. More so, when you are applying for the senior position.
In view of this, you will need to prove that there is demand for your skill set in the
UK and that you will be able to find a job once you arrive in the UK.
The best way to achieve this objective is to search the Internet for UK Job Sites.
We are giving you a small list of Job sites below so that you can visit these web
sites and search the jobs posted on them suitable for your education and
experience. Most of these sites allow free registration for the job seekers and we
would suggest that you register with at least 2-3 web sites and upload your CV.
The web sites are http://www.jobserve.com, http://www.monster.co.uk/,
http://www.totaljobs.co.uk/jobseekers/totaljobs.asp and http://www.reed.co.uk/ .
Please search the jobs that match your education and experience and take the
printouts for a few of them. These advertisements will help you in proving that
there are jobs available for skills you possess and also to show what kind of
earnings you will have in the UK.
If you have a secondary level of skills also, you can try and search for jobs
matching that second set of skills also. To give you an example, suppose you
are working as Chief Accountant in your present job, and you are also
participating in classical musical concerts on part time basis or occasionally, you
can find out opportunities for similar assignments in the UK.
Take the web page of the job sites where you register to show how many jobs
are posted in your chosen field of work. This will help you in providing the
statistics that many jobs matching your skills are available in the UK and it will
not be difficult for you to find a job once you reach the UK.
If you have an access to the UK newspapers and magazines through your local
library or British Library in your city, you can take the photo copies of the job
advertisements in your chosen field of work and enclose the same to show that
there is demand for your skills in the UK and you will be able to start working
once you arrive in the UK.

What arrangements have you made to seek work upon your arrival in the UK?

In this section describe the efforts you have initiated to find a job in the UK. It is a
known fact that most UK Employers will not consider your application unless you
have proper status that allows you to work in the UK. On the other hand HSMP
Team wants to know what arrangements you have made or are making to find
the job or find work in your chosen field of activity.
Since it is highly unlikely that you will be short-listed for any job unless you have
permission to work and stay in the UK, the best way to prove that you have
initiated efforts to find work is to go to UK Job sites and register with them. Try to
upload your CV with as many as possible. Take the Job Search results from
these web sites and include the printouts as supporting evidence to prove that
there is demand for your skills and experience. If you are an IT professional, go
to some Job sites (we are giving you some suggestions later in this booklet) and
find out how many jobs are posted on these sites that match your qualifications
and experience. On some sites like www.jobserve.com you will find that there are
more than 10,000 IT jobs posted. Take the printout of this main page.
Similarly, go to individual job adverts that match your skills and study what they
are asking for in terms of experience and education and what compensation they
are offering. This will help you in providing answers about your likely earnings in
the UK in your chosen field of activity.

What do you expect to earn in first 12 months in the UK?
This is a section where you should show the likely earnings you may have in first
12 months of your stay in the UK. To show the approximate range of your
earnings, you can provide the details from the job adverts you find on the job
sites.
You are also expected to include the evidence on which you have based your
estimated earnings for the first 12 months and this can be job adverts, or job
offer or employment agency forecasts or forecasts made by government
agencies about employments and salaries.
Before you enter the likely expected earnings in the first 12 months in the UK,
study the web sites and newspaper advertisements for jobs in your industry or
sector. This will give you an idea about the salary range that is offered for
persons with your skills and experience level. Please do not show unrealistic
levels of earnings as they will not be convincing to the HSMP Team.
This now brings us to the end of Part II of the HSMP Application. This second
part of the application does not allow you any points but this is very important
part and you should pay equal attention to this part of the application form. Many
applicants have asked us if they can include some of the details in the
application for the Entry Clearance, but we would like to suggest to complete this
application as neatly and nicely as possible because you can send the same set
of HSMP application and documents to support your application for Entry
Clearance.
If you do not complete this part properly, it may lead to delays if the HSMP Team
decides to ask you for further details and evidence for the part II of the HSMP
application.
