Need information regarding Bio metric.

could some one please give me information regarding Bio metric...
i had done my Bio metric last year before traveling abroad when i was on my initial hsmp tier1 visa now i have applied for my hsmp tier1 extension,i have send my application
and one dependent bio metric card along with the application.
Now the question is,is i have to do my bio metric again?
my application is with the home office since last month and i have not received any letter for bio metric so far.
please help me.
