Parents UK Family Visitor Visa

Post by oraja_kumar » Thu Sep 08, 2011 8:21 pm

Hi,

If parents come to UK on Family Visitor Visa(VAF1B) for 6 months for the first time.

Please clarify :-

1) Then at end of 6 months after returning back to India, after how much time can they again reapply for getting next 6 Months Visa?

2) Also when can they start to apply for 2 years Family Visitor visa?

3) Also if they get 2 years visa, do they then need to go back to India before end of 6 months or can they just visit say France for 1 Day and then can again stay for next 6 months in UK when they have got 2 Years visa?

thanks and regards

They can re-apply at any time but given that visitors should not generally be permitted to be in the UK for more than 6 out or any 12 months, nor should anyone be permitted to live in the UK on a visitor status by leaving and re-entering after only a short period, it's perhaps unlikely they will be granted another visa soon. It really depends their reasons and credibility for wanting to be in the UK again.

The long-term visit visas are given out on a discretionary basis, usually to frequent travelers who have previously demonstrated a good immigration history. If they are granted a long-term visa it does not permit them to remain in the UK any longer than the 6 out of 12 months per year previously mentioned and if they were to try to abuse this policy it might result in a refusal.
