Extension application just a week before

Dear All,
Would appreciate if I can get an answer to the following

1. Can I apply for the extension just a week before the Tier 1 General expires? I need to include the salary of the month just before that hence only have few days.

2. If that's a YES to the first then do I only have the alternative left of applying in person? It is much more expensive, isn't it?

1. You may apply for extension until 23:59 hours of the "expiry date" of your current leave.
2. Tier 1 (General) and Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) application fees
