ILR and FLR for dependant

Post by coolrock » Tue Sep 27, 2011 1:12 pm

Hello

I will be applying for my ILR next month, but I cant apply it for my wife as she hasn't lived in the UK for 2 years yet.

So I will be applying FLR for her once my ILR gets processed.

I understand that my wife has to meet the English Lang requirement.

As she will be applying for FLR, she wont take Life in the UK test.

She has an engineering degree from India, will that be valid for applying her ILR?

If not in order to meet English language requirement, should she take TOEFL or can she take life in the UK test to show her English Lang skills.

Thanks

KOL is not a requirement for FLR(M).

For FLR(M), see Q&A guidance for applicants.

If you are not a national of a majority English-speaking country or do not have a degree taught in English (see below), you must pass an approved English language test at or above the appropriate level with one of our approved test providers.

In the test, you will need to demonstrate a basic command of English (speaking and listening) at level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference. This is a basic level, which is judged to require 40 to 50 hours' tuition for most learners. Someone assessed at level A1 can understand and use simple, everyday expressions and very basic phra

OK thanks, the degree was taught in English, in this case will the degree certificate suffice? or should we need to show any written proof from the university?

Hello,

If she had to take the test, I understand that it has to be at level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference.

Is this Cambridge English: Key (also known as Key English Test) - level A1 in the following link?

Thanks,
