Post-Study Work Visa - Start Date

Post by XSCounter » Thu Oct 06, 2011 11:41 am

Hello everyone!

I've got the following question: What is the start date of a PSW visa? Is it the date of my graduation or the date the visa was given?

Thing is, I am planning to get PSW visa but my passport expires in August 2013. If I apply now and assuming the start date is the issuing date then 2 year visa will last longer than my passport and as far as I know, I will receive a rejection. But if the start date is the graduation date (in my case it's July), then the visa will expire just one month before the passport expiration date.

Otherwise, I will have to renew my passport although it is still 1 year and 9 months due.

Thanks in advance for your time! :)

That your passport will / may expire before your 2 year leave (as a Tier 1 (PSW) migrant) expires is not an issue.

Are you sure? What is the use of visa in a passport that is not valid?

Visa expires on the "expiry date" mentioned on it ...... not when the passport expires!!

Hi,

You will not face rejection as I was in the same situation as yours. I got my visa last week valid up to sep 2013, where as my passport is valid up to march 2013. good luck with your application.

Thanks for all your replies! Really helped and saved me a lot of time since I won't be needing to make a new one.

But noone still replied. What is usually the visa's start date? The date of issue or the date of graduation? Approximately.

Passport Expiry 05th April 2012

Post by Saslam8290 » Fri Oct 07, 2011 12:05 pm

Dear,

I am intending to apply for PSW in person on 15th November and just found that my passport is expiring on 05th April 2012. Can I apply for PSW with the same expiry or I have to get new passport before applying?

Please advise

How about reading the information already available in the very topic you have posted your query?

I know, but my case was bit different. I have less than 6 months validity.
