Lost Passport before ILR

Hi,

I was due to apply for ILR on 10 Oct 2011 on completion of 4 Years 11 months in UK as Tier 1 and work permit combinations.

My wife lost her passport and mine on 5 OCt 2011.

Please advise what documents I need to send for my postal application if I do not get new passports before my visa expiry.

I have P60s, Work permit, HSMP letter, all travelling dates with ticket number, letter from employers, pay slips, bank statements, utility bills for all five years.

Yes, I have police report and reference number train lost and found section.

Please advice if any one were in this unfortunate situation before and how you managed.

Shahnawaz,
I am sorry to hear this, have you contacted your Embassy? why don't you make an application for re issue of passport (I know this is not an easy process)
Hope you have copies of the lost passport and visa pages. Try to meet a consular and expalin the situation and urgency.
When does your current stay expire?

Yes, Applied for new passports.

I am trying to get the new passport as early as possible but may not come before the 21 Oct 2011. That is the validity of my visa.

MY ILR is due today on 10 Oct 2011.

Please advise the appropriate action.

Friend of mine had the same problem last year.He had lost his passport just before the ILR.He managed to get his new passport quickly with his previous/lost passport number on the last page.He applied for ILR with his new passport and the police complaint letter.He got his ILR without any issues.

Two options:
1. Manual passport is issued on same day by Birmingham High Commission - If Passport lost was of Pakistan.
2. Send postal application for ILR without passport - explaining reasons and providing evidence that new passport has been applied and would be provided in due course

You can. Thats what my friend did.He applied in person and got ILR.As you know police complaint letter is important
