Language Requirement for Wife

Post by palaremzi » Sun Oct 16, 2011 11:11 pm

Background: Got the Tier 2 visa in Sept 2009. At that time the dependents did not need to demonstrate English skills, so my wife who knows very little English got her visa no problem. The visa will expire in about a year.

Question: Is she now subject to the English language requirement, i.e. to extend the visa does she need to pass some sort of English test (IELTS, TOEFLC etc.)?

My feeling is that she ought to be "exempt" from the language requirement because she entered the country back in the day where this requirement was not in place, so it would be "unfair" to her to impose such requirement now.

Any info welcome. Thanks.

Thanks...

The links do not mention anything about the English language. So, she is not supposed to show that she knows English?
