Salary Requirement !

Post by jaksmith » Sun Oct 23, 2011 8:12 pm

Hi all,
I am currently on PSW visa. And planning for transferring my visa status to Tier 2 General by next year. As far i knw from ukba site, to switch from Tier 1 (PSW) to Tier 2 (Gen) there are following requirements:

1. COS from the employer
2. Atleast 6 months employed by same employer
2. £20,000 gross salary.

But, I am not clear about the salary requirement. Is £20,000 gross salary required whole year or at the time of application. My current salary £18,000 which doesn't qualify. So, if my employer increase my salary like 1/2 months ago of my application will it work ?
or, if my employer show me as 35 hours working at £10 ph equivalent to £18,200 annual salary untill 1/2 before my application and then make me 40 hours working at £10ph wich will make at that time £20,800. Will it work ?
Can anyone plz let me know. thanks guys...

1. COS from the employer - Yes but the employer needs to have Sponsorship License to be able to provide you the COS
2. Atleast 6 months employed by same employe - Yes
3. £20,000 gross salary - This is only the minimum salary requirement. Every job has specific salary requirement

What is your job title? First of all you need find out whether it is a graduate lavel job or not. Then check the salary requirement for the your job.

Salary does not need to be same as long as you meet the salary requirement at the time of you application.

I had question about the working hours for myself. I'm still not sure as HO has not mentioned any thing about minimum working hours requriement.

Hope this helps

3. 20,000 is minimum requirement. you need to make sure you are earning enough for your job title (as described by UKBA in code of practice)

yes, according to code of practice, i need to salary of £20,000.
Now, my question is £20,000 salary requirement for the work permit visa period/ contract period or at the time of application existing salary ? And also like my current salary £18,000 and after 6 months when i will apply for work permit if my employer increased my salary to £20,000 at that time. Will that work. Please give me clear answer so that i can avoid future problem. thanks

are you sure your job on code of practice says EXACTLY 20,000 pounds?

because usually it says "20,000 or above - whichever is higher"!

It doesnt matter what you are earning now since you are on PSW visa.

You need to make sure that your employer is paying you 20k from the "start date" of tier 2 visa.

Hi I checked code of practice. it became more complicated now. I am on PSW visa on the basis of BA (Hons) in Applied Accounting. And, working for the same company more than 1 year as Assistant Accountant. the more appropriate code is 2421, but problem there only ACCA qualified accountant showing.
So, confused actually what is my appropriate salary need to be shown ?
