What is the definiton of dependent children?

Post by barbie1 » Mon Oct 24, 2011 3:43 pm

I have checked the applicationg guide for an explanation to 'dependent children' but they do not elaborate on that and I was wondering whether my parents should list me as such if I am over 18 years of age?

Thanks!

If this is with regard to an immigration application it would be helpful if you could say what category.

Parents are applying for a visitor visa to see me and my sibling who both live in the UK, me on an employer sponsored visa and my brother on a student visa. We are both over 18yo.

Dependant, in this context, means any children of the applicant that are not living independent lives and require financial support. Clearly this does not apply to you. Leave this field blank.

Should they list my brother as a dependent though? Because they are actually financially sponsoring him to study in the UK even though he's over 18 yo?

Thanks
