Very worried I won't meet proof of subsisting relationship

I have become somewhat worried about threads posted on here which show EOC rejecting spousal visas because the do not believe there is a subsisting relationship.

Are there set guidelines that have to be followed. My wife does not have a pc so there is no chance of emails of skpye calls. Our communication is done on the phones and via international calling cards as these are the most cost effective method of communication with her.

Are there set rules about what defines a subsisting relationship and what does not.
