Hey all, I've been a silent follower for a while. Here are my stat:

Application posted: 7th Oct (Received by the Home Office on 10th Oct)
Application fee (debit card) deducted: 13th Oct
Acknowledgment letter received: 24th Oct (letter was dated 11th Oct)

My application is based on 10 years residence, combination of visitor, student, and post-study work. I applied roughly 20 days before the qualification period (within the 28 day rule).

p.s. can i just say that while my application has no gaps, no criminal record, clean and straightforward i am still not confident and will probably feel nervous and unsure until i'll get my passport back with the priceless stamp on it.

thank you for the information. to be honest all of us feel the same and we can only calm down when we see our passports back with ilr. What is assuring is seeing others getting thier passports back and seeing your name goes up the list every week.

My situation is exactly the same as your. My solicitor told me he applied on 27th july but I received acknowledgement letter on 19th aug which was dated 15th aug.

I am still waiting as well. My case is straight forward (I believe). 9 years student+ 2 years psw.

Hi

Usually the acknowledgment is sent 2-5 days after receiving the application. I suggest that you ask your solicitor for the proof of postage to check the date.

The waiting time starts from day of postage

My case was very straight forward and I only sent the app. form, two photos and the life in UK pass notification letter.

I completed my ten years back in June this year but my poor health did not let me apply any sooner. Thank you good people I love you all. you have been so so helpful specially Mods (Vinny and shushdmehta), all the Gurus (Greenie and Lucapooka), all the seniors, all the 10 years applicants and ah_kassem you are just brilliant, only we know how much it means to us seeing our names moving up the list as the time passes. Thank you soooooo much. After you good people I am gonna ring me parents to break this good news. The whole 10 years and the application process was just a roller coaster ride..... I am totally overwhelmed and speechless..... No words can express the feelings :'(

this is a question for those who recieved thier passports back. IsUKBA returning the original documents you have sent as a proof to support the application, or they are just returning the passport?

They have returned all the documnets with my three passports (in my case just the passports and the test certificate). Also they have returned the covering letter I sent with my set(o). I thought they would keep the covering letter but they did not. They documents they kept were my set(o) app, two photos and copies of my set(o) and test cert. I think people who applied in last week of Aug are now receiving their passports back.
I filled my form using my uncle's old fashioned type-writer and also sent the pre-paid special delivery bag but do not know what happened to it. Never mind as I have got my ILR. My special thanks to a special member who helped me drafting the covering letter...... In fact I will ring him today to pay my regards.

I have been a silent reader.My case was simple 10 years student.I had one gap in 2007.Application form returned to as in valid because pictures of one of my dependent got damaged during post.So i submitted the same application form with new pics.I was about to hire a solicitor but this fourm gave me real confidence so I applied myself and prayed to God and got ilr today.I will say to all people please do not waste money by hiring solicitors if your case is simple.The documents I sent

Hi, I received my passport yesterday with my ILR! I sent the application on 23 August, got the acknowledgement letter a few days later, and received the passport on the 27 October with the stamp dated 19 October at Liverpool.

I applied based on 8 years student + 2 years Tier 1, and paid with debit card. I sent 2 passports, photocopies of all pages of my passport with stamps on them, Life in UK Test and 2 photos. I got the passports and LIUK certificate back.

I would advise people not to waste money with sollicitors if you know you have a clean record and tick all the required boxes. There is no need to send any other material like employment letter, bank statements etc. I don't think the caseworkers pay attention to that.

I totally agree wid u....... if your case is staright forward plz dont waste your money on solicitors for your 10 yearz caes.... One of my mates applied through a lawyer back in June and he is still waiting for his passport...... whenever he tries to cotact his lawyer he is told to sit tight and wait...... he paid 800 odd quid on the top of HO application fee.... His application was too straight forward but his lawyer told him to send all his degrees, mortgage docs, 2 references from professional and the list goes on. Brainford is right........ no need to send any extra docs as they complicate the case for no reason.
By no mean I would undermine the role of a good laywer if your case is complicated...... in that situation you should and must seek professional help.

Those who are starting their ninth week should expect their passports any time now. Vien and Raja bros I hope you guyz get your passports the coming week.... if not tomorrow.
