Advice Required … change in designation

Post by wasim_n » Wed Nov 09, 2011 11:57 pm

Hi

I have been working for a reputed company as Finance Manager since
Feb 2011, based upon my performance the company board members have decided to appoint me as Director of their UK operations, which is good.

My query: Am on Tier 1 visa due for extension early 2013, if i continue working as Finance Manager I presume my case would be very
Straight forward with minimum docs required, if applied for extension
As director what additional docs would be needed and will it make my
Case complicated???, need expert advice / suggestion to help
Me decide prior to swith over.

Fyi, will be only paid a fixed remuneration on monthly basis, i will
Not get any dividends or any other payments.

Valid suggestion/ advice will be appreciated.

Why do you think the case would be straightforward if you are designated a "finance manager" but not straightforward if your designation changes to "director"?

Hi Sushdmehta

I think if my extension is based on FM, docs adequate to support my case:

- salary slips
- bank stm
- qualifications

Which is fairly straight forward

VS

Director:

- Same docs as FM
- Additional docs of my company for being director/ etc.....
- Additional checks n queries
- Any other unknown complications

May be am bit negative here, if you can shed some light over my doubts will be very grateful and it will help me to overcome my confusion to take up my new role easily.

My main concern is to avoid complication in my extension n make it very straight forward to avoid any delays.

FYI, am not sure what extra docs will be needed as a Director and that is the
Reason am seeking your expert advice.

Thanks

You need to understand the difference between "self-employed" as director of company that you are a controlling shareholder of, and "employed" by a company in which you do not have a controlling stake but only your designation includes the word "director".

Reading the policy guidance will help.

You just need to provide payslips in the usual way. It don't matter that one says "manager" and another says "director". As Sushmehta pointed, you are still employed by your organisation
