Tier 1 Extension

Post by nattu » Wed Nov 02, 2011 7:25 pm

I came to UK with a HSMP visa in 2008- January , I extended it by 3 years in 2010- January under the TIER 1 visa category. This tier 1 visa is valid till 2013 Jan.
However I was outside UK from early 2010 till May 2011.I was employed by another company outside UK. Hence I assume I cannot apply for PR in UK .

If I find a job in UK in next few days and work in UK till end of 2012 ,can i apply for another extension ? .
ie .Considering the above situation .Can I apply for another extension (end of 2012) under the TIER 1 category when my current stay period expires ?

Currently there is no limit on number of extensions so you can extend around end of 2012 provided you score required points applicable in your category.

I moved from HSMP to tier 1 category in Jan 2010. The month when this application was made was Sep 2009.I hence got an extension starting Jan 2010- Jan 2013. Hence , I am currently under the tier 1 category which expires on Jan 2013. I was 27 when I applied for this .
Now, When I apply for extension in Dec 2012 I will be 30. My question is , what will be the points for age when i reapply .
will it be based on my age as 27 or as 30 ?

Hi ,
Yes you can renew ur application if u find work now in UK and before end of ur curent Visa Use the points calculator to check your points from last 12 months of ur stay. If that's positive ur good to renew

Best Of Luck .

Hi nattu,
the age considered will be your age at the time of your reapply application.

The Help content in UK Home office website says ,
Points-based calculator - help
If you are in the UK and are applying to extend your stay you can score up to 20 points for your age. You should use your age at the date of your application for your first permission to stay as a Tier 1 (General) migrant, as a Highly Skilled Migrant, as a Writer, Composer or Artist or Self-Employed Lawyer. Please refer to the Tier 1 (General) policy guidance for details of the points that you can score for age.
If your first application was to the HSMP this will be the date that you applied for your HSMP approval letter, not the date that you applied for your leave.
I am hence confused .
