Atlast - Got the documents

Post by seto30june » Sat Nov 12, 2011 3:14 pm

Thankfully I received my passport today - SET0 application, approx 4.5 months of wait!

- If you are lucky enough to see this website before applying - don't apply by post, its not only painful waiting experience, but will also delay your eventual citizenship application by same number of months.

- To those who changed their address in the interim - keep following your application everywhere in what ever way you can. My address changed a month after my application, I called home office, I faxed them and sent recorded delivery, I not only did that but only because of that reason I opted for royal mail direction service for which I was paying every month. A few days ago when I called home office to tell my anxiety for the fact that my application has already taken more then expected time and the only reason of calling is that my address has changed so I just want to make sure that it has not gone at my previous address etc - staff I think she was rude, interrupted me in the middle and said you can not use change of address as an excuse to know about the progress of your application [with in 6 months] with out at all realising that exactly what happened which I wanted to rectify by calling them - I received my documents on my previous address, thankfully my neighbour was extremely helpful collected and then posted me by sp delivery. Not only the UKBA sent it on wrong address but also royal mail did not register it on re direction mail.

Any ways

Good luck to those who are waiting - almost all are now receiving [SETO] in approx 4 months, as compared to 2.5 to 3 months which was the usual time 2-3 months ago.

Hi Seto30june
Happy for you. its real pain . just wondering why they have not given you the ILR since the application received date, it is total ridiculous .
Anyway I am sure. no one in this forum will repeat the postal application in their life time
Cheers

Many thanks Ganesh, I did get ILR stamped 28th Oct,
Still the whole postal process is nothing but just pain, I hated it every moment, though people do get it in the end, but you just can not apprehend why do they take well over 100 days [worse is up to a half year to give you ANY information regarding the most imp documents of your life] for a process which is just mere 2 - 3 hours..

In reference to people wanting info on Croydon

I posted a SET(M) application on the 07/10/2011
Received confirmation from Croydon letter dated 10/10/2011

Called today as partner needed passport back for work travel and found that application not even in the system yet.

Stupidly thought turn around would be similar to my original partner visa applied for in Canada which only took around 3 weeks. Just realizing that I will now have to cancel my trip back to Oz for Christmas, which is already paid for.

Anyone had luck with getting documents returned for compassionate reasons? to visit elderly relatives?

Here is my ILR (SET (O)) timeline:
Applied on 14th July 2011
Acknowledgment received on 19th July 2011
No response till now and made few unsuccessful attempts by calling UKBA. No information is provided pointing about 6 months waiting time. I hope I would have known about this forum earlier. Don’t ever post your application.
Good luck to all applicants waiting for their result.

Hi,

I've been reading this blog daily since I sent my application, it's really been a great help. Got my visa back this morning, and thought I'd post my timeline:

Applied Set M September 3, 2011
Letter received from Croydon September 8, 2011
Received passport back November 15, 2011
ILR stamped November 8, 2011 in Liverpool

10.5 weeks

All the best of luck to everyone still waiting.

set m still waiting

Post by nahnah » Wed Nov 16, 2011 9:32 am

after being away from this forum for a while, I've now returned to post my timeline on too......

ILR SET(M) applied through my solicitor who

--Posted application via special delivery on the 13th September
--Received by UKBA on the 14th September
--Acknowledgment dated 15th September and received on the 20th September
--Money taken out....don't know exactly when as I paid by Banker's Draft
--Currently in my 9th week

just to add a few thoughts too......this whole process is just one frustrating...utterly frustrating experience....i mean your whole life is in their hands....you cant make any plans to travel or even any future plans about your life...... and somehow i cannot fathom why on earth it takes so long to process.....

like other users have said previous spouse visas take only about 3 weeks on average, so is it due to staff shortage versus enormous ILR applications or what is the problem.......

it is unbelievable the amount of time spent for them to get back to you as well as unbelievable how you cannot know any progress until after SIX months! And oh....i couldn't go to the PEO as my spouse had to unexpectedly travel for family demise.so had no choice but to post as my 2 year spouse visa was expiring....

sorry for the long post but somehow UKBA need to know the trauma of asking people to wait without any updating.....my life feels like its in a bubble now.....just waiting to be burst!

and congrats to all who received their visas and patience to those who are still waiting.....like me.....

UPDATE

ilr received : december 14
Total time: 12 weeks 3 days!

Re: Mid August application

Hi everyone,

I came home last night to find a card from Royal Mail - my passport has arrived!! See my story below. My advice is to phone the 0870 606 7766 number and select option 4 for general enquiries. If you want to request expedited application do try to fax, but ask them where your application is being processed, because I initially faxed the wrong office. When I explained the reasons for wanting to expedite my application they were very helpful, but again I think it is down to whether or not the person you talk to agrees that your reasons are valid. After my second fax to Liverpool someone even phoned me at work to tell me that they have received it and will make sure I have it in time to travel AND they phoned again today to say it has been sent - how wonderful is that! My point is, rest assured that there are people at UKBA who do care about the many people out there who are waiting and waiting...

My final timeline:

Application posted 12 August
Acknowledgement letter dated 17 August
Payment taken 17 August
Faxed Croydon to request Expedite 26 October
Special Delivery Letter (Croydon) 01 November
Faxed Liverpool to request Expedite 04 November
Faxed Liverpool to request Expedite 09 November
Application Concluded (Liverpool) 07 November
Arrival by Royal Mail Spec Delivery 15 November
Total weeks just more than 13 weeks, 2 days

Hearty congratulations mate. Any chance of having Livepool and croydon office fax numbers. I posted my application, because they were not able to process my application at PEO. But to be honest I was expecting that to be processed at PEO as it is straight forward application, but for some technical/clerical error they said they could not open my file and they requested me to post. Now I am in real hurry as I have to travel India in December. Its only been a month that I posted.

Congrats. Can you please mention more about your application as it seems to be one of the quickest to come back. Was it a straightforward case?
