My advice for those waiting pls call Home office once you finish three months after you applied & my RC was dated 16/10/2011. I requested passport return on 8/11/2011 it take five working days to received on 16/11/2011. Now days time period between 3 to 4 months. Once again good luck for everyone & thank you so much for creator of this forum it helps lot & gave so much information. Hello all!

Post by comradekate » Mon Nov 21, 2011 12:48 pm

Starting to get a little nervous about needing my passport for travel in mid-December. Here's my timeline:

Applied 9 August 2011
Received by UKBA 10 August 2011
COA dated 16 August 2011

I've read on the board that some folks who applied early August have already received their residence cards. Should I chance that my application has been approved and my passport stamped, and call to ask for my passport to be returned?

If you need to travel mid December, I suggest you call them today irrespective of the status of your application as it can take 10 working days to get the passport back.

But I no longer have a valid EEA1 Family Permit. I'd have to reapply for an EEA1 from Canada over the holidays, which is just impossible as the whole country tends to shut down and getting anything through the mail is dreadful.

I guess if the RC hasn't arrived by the end of the week, I'll call for my passport back. If it doesn't have the RC stamp, then I guess I can't go home for Christmas.

It could be that your RC will be on a piece of A4, separate from your passport, but I don't think you can do anything but wait.

I'm contemplating asking for my passport back, but I applied around the same time as you, and if yours hasn't come through yet, maybe I'll hold off for another week or so.

This is terrible. They could have issued it as it is almost reach the 3 months mark. I remember read somewhere in their caseworker instruction that they give priority to applications over 3 months old.

Well, I said to hell with it this morning and phoned to get my passport back. It's been 3 1/2 months, and people who applied around the same time had the RC approved by 2 1/2-3 months.

Fingers and toes crossed! At least with passport in hand, I can hopefully reapply for an EEA1 to get back after the holidays... provided my passport doesn't come with the RC vignette.

I presume you meant "Family Permit" and not EEA1 which is a Residence Permit application for EEA nationals.
If you are not a visa national, then you should be able to enter the UK with the CoA letter. If you are a visa national, you might need a new EEA FP as the airline might refuse your boarding.

Right, Family Permit. Sorry about that. So, visa national... what's that? I'm a Canadian, so I think that makes me a non-national?

eta: Nevermind, found the info with a quick Google. I'm not a visa national, so I should (if all else fails) be able to get in with my lovely Canadian passport (oh how I miss you!) and my CoA. Thanks Jambo!

Received RC today, but
1) my passport is not inside the pack
2) my RC issued on a A4 paper does not have my husband's name on it

Can anyone help if the RC without spouse name is ok?

RC is without spouse's name. It was on it in the old days like my 1st RC, I think the new version has removed it.

Good evening guys!

Wanted to thank people on this site and share my timeline:

Application sent: 5th Sept
COA received: 11th Oct
RC issued: 27th Oct
RC received: 23 Nov

RC sent promptly following my request for passports from HO on 21st Nov.
So calling them does help. My RC was issued almost a month ago,and God knows how long it would stay there but for the call.

Good luck everyone!

I have finally received my RC. It has been such a nightmare all this waiting, I have dreamt about it and woken up in the morning feeling anxious expecting good news since the day I applied . This Forum is very helpful and I found comfort when someone had received their RC.
My application was not straight forward as I was an over stayer when I applied so I was aware it would take longer than usual. Don't know yet when it was issued as I've made an appointment with my solicitor to collect my passport on Monday as he was busy all day today.

13/07/2011 eea2 was sent to HO
15/07/2011 eea2 was received by HO
