Iraqi Dependent of Tier 1 (Canadian), Police registration

Post by knigh7 » Tue Nov 15, 2011 12:55 pm

Hi,

I just renewed my Tier 1 extension for myself and my wife (dependent). My wife is from Iraq and I am a Canadian citizen. Does she need to register at the police? We have not registered but I am told that she may need to register especially for ILR

Thanks

Don't know how this issue is addressed in the world of BRPs but when PBS leave used to be issued as vignette in the passport, the vignette clearly mentioned such requirements.

According to immigration rules (325-326 and Appendix 2), an Iraqi national is required to register with the police. Don't think that she is exempted because she is in the UK as your dependant.

She isn't (326(2)).

Perhaps and error on UKBA's part? According to the rules, her leave should have been endorsed with the requirement.

If I were you, I would register nevertheless!

have you checked the back of the BRP - this is usually where it is written.

Did her entry clearance include a requirement to register?

i wouldn't think its an error as the two visa stickers first one she got when you was out of country, and the first extension sticker does not mention it, i should get the BRP soon, i will check it then

no, i checked all the stamps nothing mentions it
