Hey Doubletrouble,

Good work, please add me.

Application Set (O) posted 30th July 2011 for ILR after 5 years HSMP/Tier one for me, my wife and my son.
Acknowledgement - 3rd August 2011
Visa expired - 25th August 2011
Application Status - 15 weeks and 5 days, and still waiting patiently.
Wife lost a job in October 2011 because Visa had expired.
Posting my application was a very big mistake.
Hi all I finally received my ILR but there is a long story behind this. Pls read the topic ' ILR refused at first but later granted' which I have posted separately for more details. Wishing the others who are waiting for the ILR the very best!

waiting game

Post by totallylegit » Tue Nov 22, 2011 11:00 am

hey guys, thanks for all the useful info on here. I sent mine in on 7th September and got the confirmation the following week. So I guess I am coming up on week 11 now with no news. Anxiously checking the post everyday now. Hopeful I will get it in time to make my Christmas holiday plans or else I will end up staying here alone for the holidays.

Can anyone tell me how the passport is sent? Will someone need to be home to accept it or will they just put it in the mail box?

thanks and good luck.

Hi totallylegit,

UKBA would send your passport back by recorded delivery, if you are not in, then post man should really leave a card saying that you were not in and he is taking the post back.

You could then either re-arrange the delivery or you could collect it yourself from the address shown on the card and you would have to take the card with you.

You can get the info here

Waiting is over now!!

Post by raj221003 » Tue Nov 22, 2011 11:50 am

Grace of God.

I got my ILR. Waiting time 16 week.

Set(O) HSMP/Tier1 (3+2 years)
Applied on 27/07/2011.
Acknowledgement letter Date: 29/07/2011
Stamped Date 15/11/11
Received Date: 21/11/11

My advice to people who going to apply in near future. If you have patience to wait for 6 months. Apply in post otherwise PEO.

I was checking update every day since I knew this website.

Thanks Everyone for sharing their Experience.

I can see a few of you adding their details after getting approval. Am I right in thinking there are some of you who are following this thread but yet to put details down? May I kindly ask to add your details.

I can see 2 groups of approvals one after 10-11 weeks and another 16-18 weeks, may I ask you guys to leave a reason why your approval might have been quicker or slower?

Nat000 are you still waiting for your ILR?

Good luck to all waiting.

Set(O) Ancestry + 4 dependents
Applied on 8/8/2011.
Acknowledgement letter Date: 12/08/2011
Still waiting - but that's the easy part.

I was terminated by my employer on 1/9/11 because, in their opinion, the acknowledgement letter did not prove my right to work.

As you are all aware, UKBA are as helpful as a chocolate fireguard. During the whole month of September UKBA could not find my application nor was it registered with ECS so if I wanted to get a new job I couldn't. Fax, registered post, phone calls. You name it, I did it.

Finally after many phone calls to my employer they agreed to a conference call with UKBA. It was at that point my employer realised the futility of the situation and brought me back from the land of "unemployed-and-not-on-benefits", temporarily. If I don't have anything back by Xmas, I'm out again.

So looking at the timeframes it is possible that I will get something back by then. If not, when the ILR is finally approved I could theoretically get on the benefits gravy-train. A Win-Win for all. Well done UK! I'll make sure the Daily Mail gets the scoop.

Seriously though, this whole sorry saga, and the many that have preceded me, needs some sort of collective action.

Do we have the numbers to petition Downing Street or at least create some sort of fuss?

Finally after many phone calls to my employer they agreed to a conference call

*******Sorry to hear about your ordeal. I sent an email to this address and got a response within a day and a half.
SettlementOpspolicy@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk and got a response from the
caseworker who had my application. Guess you can give it try.....

Update: 17 weeks and still waiting.
Wife called GP this morning to book an appointment and the GP said you and family have been removed from my register because your visas have expired. Wife is pregnant and Son is bleeding from his nose, yet GP says he will not attend to them until we get our visas.

I called home office this morning, home office said there is nothing we can do.

So now we have no visas, no GP so no access to medical assistance, wife has no job (lost job in October because visa had expired), no help or assistance from home office.

Besides all of these, we trust in God.

sorry to hear about your situation.....maybe you should write to the home office to ask them to speed up your application.......in light of your wife's situation.....writing sometimes does it....

i also understand that it is up to the gp practice to decide to offer services but surely he/she should understand that you are applying for an extension to stay in the UK....have u tried showing them the acknowledgement letter or they are still adamant they won't treat your family.....well i came across this link about NHS charges.....it may be insightful to help your wife especially, get free treatment...

let's keep up the faith....all will be well veeeery soon. and good luck to you and your family......

This is absolute rubbish, if you apply before your current leave expires your status remains the same while the application is being processed, some one else had the same issue. UKBA should have told you that, see this UKBA link http://ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immi ... ettlement/ and see the note at the bottom of the page "Frequently Asked Questions"

What is my immigration status while my application is being decided?
If you make an application before your authorised stay ends, your existing immigration status will continue until your application is decided, even if the decision is not made until after the end of your permitted stay. If your existing visa or other permission to stay here allows you to work, you can continue to do so until your case is decided.
@ rahimjohar

Trust me, I have downloaded the relevant parts of UKBA website, converted it to PDF and send it to them. But all they want to see is the visas. The GP said we are not interested in any letter, all we want to see is the visa. Same thing happen to her potential employer in October. The employer said we know you have applied for renewal, but we want to see your visa and not any letter.

I have done everything except contacting the local MP.

It is obvious that some employers and many institutions in UK do not care to know anything about the visa application process. It is either you have it or you do not have it.

I pray the visas come before the end of this week (Week 17). lf l knew it would take this long, l would not have posted it.

I have sent an email to the home office this morning, hopefully someone will respond and send our visas immediately.

I was expecting that it will come after 3 months but now 4 months is minimum waiting.
Think twice before applying by post.
All the memebers are very supportive and helpfull. Thanks for keeping forum live, i will also stay on board.
