Age assessment for Tier-1 General (Extension)

Post by gd_Shepherd » Fri Nov 25, 2011 5:44 am

Hi everyone,

This forum has been very useful to me for my visa purpose. Thanks.

I have a query regarding the age assessment in Tier-1 General extension. My visa was issued on 12 Mar 2009 and I was 28 years of age at the time of grant. Should I use this age for extension as the application says age at the time of first grant.

Also the extension guidance does not seem to talk about the age assessment. I hope it is still the completed age they are referring to rather than the running age.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks

hi,

I have the same problem. My age at the time of first application was 29 years and 3 months. Now I have to apply for Tier-1 General Extension. Should I give 30 years or 29 years for age assessment?

Please help!

The PBS calculator asks you for the age at the time of first Successful Tier -1 application and not your current age.

So the points you secure for age, never change from your first application up to ILR.

Thanks for your quick response. My age during the time of first application was 29 years 3 months. I am confused because now <30 years will have 20 points and 30 years to 34 years will have 10 points.

Is 29 years 3 months considered as 29 years or 30 years? Depending on this, my 10 points is at stake.

Kindly let me know!

29 Years 3 months is considered as 29.

I applied my initial application when i was 27 years 9 months. I was considered as 27 years because till you don’t reach 30 you are considered as 29 .
So for example if you apply for initial grant at 29 years 11 months you would still be considered as 29.

Hope this helps.

In my mind I can see the following questions:
(1)*Did you consider yourself to be 30 when in actual fact you were 29 years and 3 months old?
(2)*Did you claim points as a 30 year old or as a 29 year old?
(3)*Did UKBA award you points as a 30 year old or as a 29 year old?

From what you say, you claimed points as a 29 year old. You were awarded points as a 29 year old, extension application asks you for age at time of initial application, I do not see any reason why this age should now change from 29 years (and 3 months) to 30. You had not reached 30, so why would you like to change this now??? Your age was 29 at initial application.
