HSMP Approved

Post by john440 » Tue Sep 26, 2006 5:31 pm

Hi Guys,

I have got my HSMP approved on 21st Sept 2006. I had applied on 4th Sept 2006. Pretty quick, since i am based outside UK. Going for the visa stamping... Please pass on some tips/precautions that needs to be taken care while going for the stamping ? I am based in Bangalore, India.

Also, it is mentioned that I can postpone the stamping for 6 more months...

Regards,
John

Hi John440,

Yes, you have 6 months to apply for an EC. So if you don't plan to leave for UK immediately, I would suggest that you apply for EC near the time of travel.

This way, you will get more time to settle down in UK and become economicaaly active, before it's time for an extension. This particularly true if the ECO stamps a 1year visa on your passport.

Not an exhaustive or sacrosanct list, but this is what you should attach to support your EC application:-
1. HSMP approval letter.
2. All documents you sent to HO for HSMP approval.
3. Bank statements / other documents to prove your financial condition (bank statements should cover the previosu 4-6 months).
4. Payslips covering the last 4-6 months.
5. IT returns (last 3 years, if you can).
6. Proof of accommodation (letter from someone you know in UK who is ready to accommodate you, hotel reservation for a couple of weeks etc. - depends on individual circumstances).
7. If you're married and your spouse is also applying for EC as your dependent, and if you did not claim points for partner's achievement in HSMP, attach your marriage certificate for sure.
8. If you have a job offer in UK, it will sensible to include the offer letter.
9. Of course, the application form (VAF1), photographs and required fee

Thanks sushdmehta and tabhar2000. Thanks for the tips.

sushdmehta:

So how is the job market right now for telecom software ? Do you know any recruitment agencies who can help me in my job hunt? I thought the visa was avlid for 2 years? Am I wrong in assuming this?

cheers,
John

Hi,

The rule says that an ECO can issue a visa for a maximum of 2 years at the time of first application post HSMP approval. It is nowhere stated that an ECO cannot issue a 1 year visa. Have read on this forum itself that some people in the past got a 1 year visa only. Not sure if things have changed since then.

Can't comment on the job market in UK, as I haven't started exploring and moreover I am not in telecom sector. Sorry :(

Hi sushdmehta,

This is regarding the support document for EC that you've mentioned above.

I've a query about the following points

3. Bank statements / other documents to prove your financial condition (bank statements should cover the previosu 4-6 months).
4. Payslips covering the last 4-6 months.
5. IT returns (last 3 years, if you can).

My HSMP has been approved but am jobless.so how can i produce evident job related documents ?

Thanks

Hi Enable,

In that case, payslips are a problem. But no worries, you can submit the other 2 evidences.

With personal experience I can say that it should work as I have been issued Visitors visa in the past even when I was not employed (twice infact !!) and therefore I did not submit any payslips.

What is important is show your financial situation (that you have sufficient funds to sustain yourself for 6-12 months). What documents you submit to prove that isn't the important bit. e.g.- I have never submitted IT return ever for any visa application I have made till date (20+ applications) !!

Hope this helps. All the best :)

I am in telecom domain and in UK. As far as i can quote.. its not saturated yet. so if you give best effort you should fetch job soon.

Have a look at the following link about Computing / IT Jobs - gives information about how to approach agencies, interview tips and how to structure your CV.

www.phil-jobs.blogspot.com

Hope it's useful

looked for C++

C++
This section looks at the demand for C++ skills across the UK with a comparison to our Programming Languages category. Included is a guide to the average salaries offered in IT job ads that have cited C++ over the last 3 month to 29 September 2006 with a comparison to the same period last year.

You can find wide range of IT Skills.

rest you can follow up in seperate forum called jobs n emplpoyement in UK...

Hi Enable,

I do understand that you are applying for EC on basis of HSMP.

Anyways, given your circumstances, it seems that you will have to ask one of your friends to sponsor you "financially". For this, you will need a letter from your friend confirming his intention to:
a) accommodate you during your stay in UK, and
b) take care of your maintenance and subsistence in UK.

Since the financial burden will now be on your friend, he will have to submit revelant documents to prove his claim that he can support you financially. Though not an exhaustive list, but I guess he (your sponser) will have to enclose the following along with the cover letter:-
1. Bank account statement to cover last 4-6 months.
2. P60 / Income Tax return.
3. Formal documents to show that he either owns or rents an accommodation that is big enough for you to settle in temporarily.
4. Employment contract.

Your sponsor can forward all these papers to you, and you can then attach them with your EC application. The best place to find out what all documents you will need from your friend if he acts as a financial sponsor to you is the nearest VFS office (assuming you are in India).

Many thanks sushdmehta.

I am pretty clear now.

Sorry to bother you again. One more thing, if a person on working permit who resides at UK can get convert his visa to dependent type through FLR?
I heard only dependent type visa is 'non-switchable category' what about workpermit visa types?

John,
Y-Axis says they need around 4 months for Home Office processing. But you seem to have got it fast. Did you apply while you were in UK?

Thanks
Deepak

Hello,

Do we need to submit all the originals to home office while applying for HSMP?

If so, what are the certificates that needs in original instead of photo copy?

Thanks in advance

Hi Burlagadda,

Seems you are interested in HSMP but not in reading the guidance notes :D :D

All documentation MUST be in original. Photocopies are NOT ACCEPTED.

All the documents that you submit should be original except the passport. You can send a copy of the passport properly authorized .

You need to send in a notarized copy of your passport only if you are applying under the <28 years category.

If applying under 28+, no need to send in notarized copy of passport.

This is the new information which I did not come across in other threads.

Thanks for letting me know that notarized is not necessary for 28+ folks.
