Child not born in UK and British Citizenship registration

Post by gabby » Mon Nov 28, 2011 4:10 pm

Please is it possible to register a child dependant under 18 years not born in UK as a Britich Citizen after the parents have indefinite leave to stay without first getting indefinite leave for the child?

That is, Is the visa status of a child not born in UK, a major consideration before being registered as a British Citizen.

No! And that is no ..... to the words of yours that I am actually quoting!

As the child was not born in the UK, the parent(s) getting ILR does not trigger an opportunity to register the born-outside-the-UK child as British.

So yes the child will need to get ILR, and an application to register the child as British cannot be made earlier than when one or both parents is applying for Naturalisation as British.
