They do seem to have gone quiet, the Alexandria office is so much quicker is responding, (less applications), its so frustrating that others have got their visa who applied around the same time.
I applied in September and still waiting :(

My 12 weeks is up on 13th Dec, however I have had Eid, Armed Forces Day, Elections and UKBA strikes to contend with in that time where the offices have been closed.

I am confident that my application is in Egypt and not the UK, I had my phone call within a day of Megan from London UKBA, who got her visa around 2 weeks later, however she applied from alexandria and not from cairo- they had only 6 applications last month, compared to 65 in cairo. I am only making assumptions here but I think that they have a ton of applications to process in cairo..hence all we can do is wait for them to get to our's.

Do we know if the strikes today are happening in Egypt too? Are the staff there protected under our unions?

Is anyone else really struggling with this? I have just booked to fly to egypt in 2 weeks as I cant stand to be away from my husband any longer and I am not having Christmas without him, it is the hardest thing I have ever had to face, do the guys over at the UKBA realise this??

i know how u feel becks, 6 weeks has felt like 6 years, christmas without my hubby is going to be awful, and my daughter is crying everytime she speaks with him on the phone bless her.
i think all of ukba is on strike, including those abroad, as technically does'nt matter where they are they still work for ukba!
our 12 weeks is up on 2nd jan, feels like a lifetime away! i had my call bout 4 weeks ago, maybe we should have gone to Alexandria as well!!

I'm not sure if it makes much difference whether it's from Alex or Cairo. The applications from Alex have to go to the Cairo VAC anyway and I assume they're taken to the same visa section.

That's my theory out of the window then! No idea why some are taking longer then others :(

Is your hubby with you now Megan?

Everytime I track the application I hold my breath, it feels like its never going to change its status...I probably should not look 10 times a day, but its impossible not to!!

Its great to be able to chat to people in the same position, our friends and family are so supportive, but I dont think you can really understand how hard it is unless you are in the same position, thanks all for letting me rant!

Back to the waiting game!!!

Phone Call

Post by butterfly4321 » Wed Nov 30, 2011 3:26 pm

when I asked about waiting times on my phone call from ukba in london she did say the normal 60 days but also said that they do work hard to try and process the applications through before xmas.......... maybe a small glimmer of hope eh.

Hey Mego, your 60 days would have been up yesterday, but I reckon that there were 3 days for Eid, Armed forces day, today's strike and Monday's election which should mean that your actual 60 working days is up a week today!! I think you are well within your rights to contact them then and request an update.

I will be doing the same in 2 weeks if I have not heard anything, i just think we need to give it the 60 days that we are told, after that go for it!!!

Good luck!!!!

I am sure that it is working days, 60 working days=12 weeks! If I am wrong then I am 2 weeks over, but I am sure that I am not...anyone any ideas? I am currently at c.50 working days, hence 2 more weeks for a decision

I said normal days and not working days because I did get a tourist visa last year in 8 normal days , and they say in the website that they process 98 % of the application in 8 days and 100% in 10 days , that's why I said it's normal , I dont know for now , maybe they change the rules
good luck to everyone

Working Days

Post by butterfly4321 » Thu Dec 01, 2011 6:45 am

Its definately working days

1 week = 5 working days excluding any holidays

Since I put mine in on the 12th October they have had 2 or 3 for eid and 1 for the elections then they may or may have not striked yesterday but thats not a holiday so I would count it in the working days.

Good point Butterfly, so fingers crossed yours should come by Wednesday Mego...re: emailing World Bridge, when I have emailed previously they came back to me within about 24hours, which I thought was pretty good and they were very helpful - it may not be the case now, I have not contacted them yet, but its definitely worth a shot! If you did it today for example, they would come back to you by Monday- which means that they should be able to tell you if it is back with them and ready for completion.

I really wish you lots of luck, let us all know how you get on :)

2 weeks and counting!!
