ditto me to i hope it works out its just so frustrating its annoying n upsetting. how long u been married. where r u right now in dublin working or looking for work

We got married in January 2011 in the UK. She then had to return home. She stayed at home 6 months and I had a visit in between and then I went back to the UK.

She then applied for a family visit visa but they refused (couldn't apply for a spouse as she was under 21 (rules since changed).

I'm in Azerbaijan now hoping it comes through before my visa runs out here. If I doesn't I will be in Dublin next week at some point. Will be looking for work then. I've made some applications and have some leads to follow up when I get there.

Where are you living at the moment in Dublin? DO you have accommodation sorted and everything? Working?

yes in dublin sorted out accommodation n job thankfully so now its just a case of waiting i guess. what field of work do u specialise in

What are the rental rates like? Deposits? Agency fees etc? What part of Dublin?

I specialise in Accounting.

wel i found someone on some forum called indians in ireland n went from there. moved with this girl who is from india but here working. so had to give ne month rent n one month deposit. try daft dot ie for property its the best one. one months rent n one months deposit in total. work wise register with different agencies etc n u should pick something up bear in mind its xmas so not many people recruiting now. but fingers crossed u will get something. is ur family from azerbaijan of just the mrs

I am from Manchester, UK. Just the Mrs and her family who is from Azerbaijan. So rubbish living apart isn't it.

ur right its horrible wish there was no such thing like visas n u could just be together with someone u love instead of someone else deciding whether its real or fake very upsetting

I got an email this morning saying the visa has been issued and is ready for collection. They are going to post it out to us today.

5 days it took. Hope yours is just as fast

hiya nad please let us know outcome of your application and what documents you submitted to irish consulate karachi as we were told same about bank statement accomodation and job etc for a visit visa to accompany eu spouse i am british as well with pakistani spouse .thanks

well we have not submitted any bank docs or job letters or anything from my side as im already in dublin arrived month ago n now working

n they have not asked for anything yet we submitted last week so lets see what they come back with but i was speaking to someone else i know n the didnt submit anthing n got visa within 2 weeks.

so fingers crossed. r u based in dublin now or looking at coming n it seems if ur spouse in pak who is applying is female its easier r u male or female i dont know why this matters but this is what i have heard

Is the British person presently working or living in Ireland?

So you need to be very clear with them what the law is.

You do not need to prove anything in the first 90 days. You do not need to be working. You do not need to have a bank account or any positive amount of money in it.

thanks we both are in pakistan . i am british and living with my husband in pakistan for about 2 and half years . the visa we will apply will be to accompany non eu spouse for my husband.
according to directive no other documents than marriage certificate and passports should be asked .
but when i inquired all stuff bank statemant, job and all other stuff was asked from karachi consulate but when i searched at other ireland embassies like india and some others they were not asking for these things and as someone applied from ankara turky british husband for azerbaijan wife he was granted visa so i dont know what these guys at karachi consulate doing they will always tell you send us email and when you send email reply will be confusing.
they dont know the applicant will fall into which category .thaks

yup ur totally right there. they dont know what the r doing half the time. well i lived in pakistan for 8 months n its difficult to live there with the power cuts the heat the security issues etc so we decided to relocate london was obviously out of the question due to the fact it would be next to impossible to get a visa so we decided on dublin

im british n my hubby is pakistani. have applied for my spouse to join me so lets see. but since moving to dublin i have been told by a few people its easier if u r here in person as the will be joining u when u apply to travel together apparently people r getting refused.

so it might be an idea to be based here before u apply.

we called them last week to enquire what was happening but nothing as yet so fingers crossed we will get a positive response will keep u updated. have u applied yet or still waiting to apply

thanks and i agree its hard to get uk visa for the spouse as i lived over 2 years overseas and i should have acomodation ,job and other stuff back in uk to get visa for my spouse.
i checked german embassy islamabad and for spouse of german national only both passports and marriage certificates needed .
long live ukba and requirements for spouse visa .
any ways we d did not apply yet but will apply in january hope in the mean time you get your spouse with you.
and andyjohnst got visit visa to accompany spouse which is good but it was from ankara . i will print out a lot of stuff from directive 2004 and send with visa applications . and it will be hard for me to leave my huby and come alone to ireland and apply for visa as we got a kid as well and hez too used to with dad and . he got his british passport as well i mean our son . so will apply for to accompany spouse visit visa and see the result. please let us know about weekly rent and other stuff if you dont mind .i will pm as well

yeah - I just did this. I applied for a visa for my Non-EU spouse to accompany me on a visit to Ireland. All you need is the visa to get entry, doesn't matter how long they stamp it for at the gate. Doesn't matter what visa you have etc.

We gave a covering letter, explaining the directive and the key points from the directive, along with our passports and English marriage certificate. Sent in the post from Azerbaijan to Turkey. Arrived next day and the date the visa was issued was the same day. Got the visa 5 working days later after sending. Make sure your covering letters are too the point and polite letting them know you know what you're talking about.

Might be an idea for you to send a follow up email to the embassy, asking if the application has been processed in the accelerated manor and ask when you should be in receipt. Nothing wrong with giving them a friendly nudge to pull their finger out.

We have been in Dublin just over 2 weeks now. At passport control, they immigration officer didn't know anything about the directive and I forgot to bring a copy. He stamped the visa for only 45 days.

I have been lucky and have obtained work (had my first day today) and have my work contract so getting ready to submit the Residence Permit application.

I will update you on how that goes.

Very good advice! You are wise before your time!

Good for you getting work so quickly. Apply for the RC. Your wife should be able to work as well, tough you may have to push them a bit.
