You need to be truthful about your stay in the UK and that you left of your own free will when the decision did not come in time, I just have a feeling you will be successful, the decision may take some time, but you will be successful. About the drink driving, that has got nothing to do with Ireland, and I dont think it will come up re your visa application unless, you are convicted in the court and if you are, then it is better you wait for her to come and marry you here, then they have no right to refuse you from joining your wife. Your new situation will overtake your previous records because of her and the marriage.dhodho wrote:I need advice from anyone with or similar experience/ expertise. i currently live and work in ireland(republic) work and on stamp 4 visa
I need to apply for a uk visitors visa to visit family/unmarried partner(Indefinite leave to remain) who is pregnant and giving birth in january. I used to live in the uk but left voluntary after the UK border agency took more than 3 years to decide my application which was a reconsideration after being denied an extension of a student visa after overstaying because my application reached the home office 5 days after current student visa had expired. therefore it means i lost my right to appeal, however i applied for a reconsideration based on the condition that i was living with my unmarried partner for more than 2 years but the decision was never made until i withdraw my application in 2008 after i had left the country.
could anyone advice what info i should declare together and would this affect my residence in ireland since i never declared my previous uk refusal when i applied for my irish work permits and visas.
also i have a previous drink driving offence in uk 9 years ago. i was banned from driving for 2 years will this affect the decision and what is the more likely outcome

be positive, if you hide anything about your previous stay in the UK, you will be refused because they have your records.
Good luck
