VISA received

Post by maverick.topgun1984 » Wed Dec 07, 2011 3:17 pm

Hi All,

I have received my entry clearance to the UK valid from 05th December. I am currently serving my notice period in India and can only travel by end of Feb/start of march. I wanted to know if that is fine or is there any time limit within which I have to enter the UK.

You can enter anytime during the validity of the visa, although in the case of Tier 2 you would have to prove, if asked, that your sponsor still intended to employ you. However, if you do enter later than March 5 you will have a gap in your residence period that leads to ILR that will require a second extension at the end of the first extension that completes a grant of five years.

Thanks.

I am on Tier 2. Can you tell me what kind of proof will I have to show? My employer is willing to wait for me to complete my notice period.

Can you please elaborate as to what this mean? Will I be eligible for ILR on completion of 5 years? I am under the impression that as per the new policy Tier 2 is not eligible for ILR!!!
