Indian passport surrender fee

Post by HSMP2008_JANUARY » Wed Dec 14, 2011 11:27 am

while looking at the surrender fee, I am bit confused. The Indian High Commission website (http://hcilondon.in/renunciation.php ) says that the fees for this service is Rs 7000 but your website shows as £104. Considering today’s exchange rate ( www.xe.com ) the fee should be around £85.

I am intrigued to know why there is such a large discrepancy in the fee?

Because the fees was set back in the day when the Rupee was doing well against the UK£. Right now its not.

And once a fee gets set at a particular level, it usually never goes down (Law of Indian bureaucracy I guess)
