Company Merger - should it affect work permit holder?

Hello Experts,

I am currently working on UK work permit (almost 4 years). The work permit for me was issued in January 2008 upto January 2013.

Our company is recently been bought by another company. Now there are chances that our company name may change as we will be part of bigger organisation. My concern is, will my work permit be still valid? does my company needs to inform home office about this change of name or merger of my company?

As i will be applying for my ILR in December 2012, and chances are my payslips and letter will reflect new company name whereas the work permit document issued would have old company name... I would not like to take any chances... Is this something for me to worry or i need to do anything to make sure i dont face any problems for my ILR?

191. A change of employment application is not required for other changes to your job. For example if you are remaining with the same employer and change jobs to a different job within the same SOC code, your pay increases, or you are moving under TUPE arrangements due to takeover, merger, or de-merger.

Just had one query i.e. my work permit was issued in Jan 2008 when there nothing called as Tier 2... so would this guide be applicable to people like me, who got thier work permit before Tier 2 was introduced?
