Maintenance for Tier1

Post by hrayrd » Thu Dec 15, 2011 4:59 pm

Hello,
There is one question i cannot find in policy guidance of Tier1.
I am going to apply for extension of my visa in August, and it says i need £800 for my maintenance for last 90 days.

It is fine, but my wife is also going to apply same time(or 1-2 months later) as me and she should get Tier 1 dependant.
In policy guidance it is written the following for dependant maintanence.

If the main Tier 1 (General) applicant or migrant has been in the UK for less than 12 months, you must show that you or they have at least £1,600 to support you, in addition to the funds needed to support them.

It is clear for me that i will need to show £1600 for her, but what does it mean in addition to the funds needed to support them ??? How much is the funds for me in that case? Is it £800 as extended applicant, or another 1600?

Can anybody explain how much money exactly i need in this scenario?

Thanks,

Hrayr

Please read the example in the policy guidance for dependent:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... olicy1.pdf

If the Tier 1 Migrant has been in the United Kingdom for 12 months or more, each family 43. member of the Tier 1 Migrant must have £533 to support himself/herself.

For example, the Tier 1 Migrant has been in the UK for 6 months and is making an application 44. at the same time as his/her spouse and two children. He/she must show that he/she has £1600 for his spouse and a further £1600 for each child, in addition to £800 required for his/her own support. In total the family will require evidence that they hold £5600 in available funds (£1600 x 3 = £4800 + £800).

If the same Tier 1 Migrant and his family had been present in the UK for two years, they would 45. require evidence that they held £2399 (£533 x 3 = £1599 + £800) in available funds.

What about a situation when the kid is born in UK and is not yet 12 months old? I am applying for Visa for myself and 2 dependants (wife and first kid) who have been in UK for 2 years. But my second kid is born on feb 2011 and would have not yet completed 12 months when I am applying for extension next month

I got this answered in another post - I have to maintain only 533 GBP and not 1600 GBP - misread the policy document :(
