Returning Resident - british citizenship for 2 year old

Post by gud » Wed Jan 04, 2012 9:26 pm

Hi
My 2 year old (currently 2yrs) son and we (my wife and I) were granted ILR 18 months ago. He then went to India 9 months ago and lost his Indian passport bearing ILR. He then returned to UK 3 months ago with a returning resident visa on a new Indian passport.

I am wondering if he is eligible to apply for citizenship along with us (my wife and I)?

where was your child born? UK or indiA? IF INDIA, THEN YES WITH YOU AND YOUR WIFE TOGETHER
IF uk, HE DOESNT NEED TO WAIT FOR BOTH OF YOU....YOU CAN REGISTER HIM STRAIGHT AWAY....

He was in India without you or your wife? Or were you and/or your wife also outside the UK for a significant period of time? If yes please give details.

And also as already asked, where was your son born? In the UK, or outside the UK?

- My child was born in India in Jan2010
- Came to UK in Jun 2010 as work permit dependent
-All of us had been granted ILR in July 2010 in the UK
-My Son went back to India with grand parents (without parents) in Mar 2011
-My Son lost his Indian passport bearing ILR in India
-My Son had been granted 'returning resident' visa in Sep 2012 in India
-Joined us in the UK in Oct 11
(we visited him twice while he was in India with grandparents)

- My wife was in India for 6 months when he was born (Dec 09 -Jun 10). this is the only significant time she was in Inda.

Based upon that information :-
I am wondering if he is eligible to apply for citizenship along with us (my wife and I)?
Indeed yes, when you and your wife submit forms AN for Naturalisation, you can also submit a form MN1 to Register your son as British.

I have a few question regarding joint AN (wife and I)and MN1 application. Could someone kindly answer them please?

1.Is Section 3 (1) the right section under which my son could apply (MN1)?. he was born in India and got his ILR along with us when he was 7 months old.

2. What is IND or BIA or UKBA reference number - i have put down ILR stamp ref. number starting with UK34*****. Am i right?

3. My wife likes to take up my surname now. Is it possible to do it?

4. Are Physiotherapists regarded as professional persons (to act as referee)

5. Can i fill in one payment slip for all 3 applications?

Thank you in advance

That's fine. It is not critical if you get it wrong.

Don't know
5. Can i fill in one payment slip for all 3 applications?
